Character Introduction: Logan Chang

This is part four of my character introduction series.  If you’ve missed the previous installments, you can find Ellie’s here, Parker’s here, and Missy’s here.

Today’s blog post is all about Ellie’s best friend and roommate, Logan!  Here are some things you should know about Logan Chang:

1. Depending on how you define ‘generation’, Logan is either a first- or second generation Canadian on his dad’s side.  Basically, Logan’s dad was born in China and immigrated to Canada as an adult where he met Logan’s mom. Logan can speak a decent amount of Mandarin but he has a harder time reading and writing it.  English is definitely his primary language. He struggled a lot with being biracial (Caucasian mom, Chinese dad) as a kid but now he loves it.

2. He’s also allo, cis, and bi like Ellie but he’s much more of a functional bi than Ellie is.  Logan’s upbringing was pretty non-religious although he’s not necessarily an atheist. A good fancast for him is the actor George Young/George Ng.

3. Logan is absolutely in love with all kinds of video games.  He has entire bookshelves of games and pretty much every gaming console you can think of set up in the living room.  He has a few IRL friends that he plays with online but he also has a few people he plays with that he’s never met in person.

4. He has a degree in computer science from the University of Alberta and he works IT for Alberta Health Services.  He currently works on the help desk and always has funny stories of computer illiterate people to share with Ellie.

5. Although Logan and Ellie are basically the same age, he’s taken over the big brother role in her life since she’s an only child.  It mostly consists of him teasing her relentlessly about everything but he’s also incredibly protective of her. He’s also her go-to comfort person when she’s stressing out or having a panic attack.  At least, he is until Parker shows up.

Is there anything else you’d like to know about Logan?  Can you guess what fandoms Logan’s name came from? Let me know in the comments!
