Last week, I posted Drawn Together’s current first page, which is from Parker’s POV. If you missed it, you can read it here. This week, I’m sharing Ellie’s first POV page, which is the beginning of chapter two. Remember, this is only the second draft so things are likely to change but I hope you enjoy this look into Ellie’s life!
Chapter Two
There was nothing Ellie loved more after a long day at work than coming home, bunkering down in her craft room, and sewing. Most days, she’d throw on an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation and dive right into her project, the sound of her sewing machine washing away all of her stress. Other days, like today, absolutely nothing went right and she wondered why she even bothered sewing at all.
“Oh for the love of-- Can you please cooperate?” she muttered to herself as she attempted to properly line up the two pieces of fabric she had draped across the table. Lining up a seam to pin wasn't a difficult task – she had done it hundreds of times before – but no matter how hard she tried, this section of her dress just wouldn't behave. She had tried pinning the top and bottom together first before moving along the seam but the fabric bunched up without her noticing so the seam was uneven. Securing one piece to the table so she only had to manipulate the other piece had ended with the piece that was secured to the table continually coming loose so she was spending more time taping it back in place than actually pinning the seam. Even coercing her roommate, Logan, into holding the pieces still as she worked had resulted in an uneven seam. She was reaching her breaking point and if she didn't take walk away soon, she was liable to do something childish like throw the entire damn thing across the room.
When the fabric still didn’t behave and instead somehow managed to come loose from the pins she had already set, she finally admitted defeat for the day and set to packing everything up in one of the many plastic totes she had lining the plain white walls. Although the space mostly got used as her crafting room, it was still technically the spare bedroom.
