Today, we’re taking a short break from character introductions for some actual WIP content. This is only the second draft so it’s by no means the final product but I’m really excited to share with you guys Drawn Together’s current first page!
Chapter One
Being medically discharged from the Army for an injury fucking sucked. Sure, he was getting his disability benefits but being with the Army was supposed to be his career. Now, he was back in his old bedroom at his parents’ house, unemployed, going nowhere in life, and struggling to do up his fucking jeans because his fingers didn’t work right anymore.
“Rise and shine, Sleeping Beauty!” his sister, Becca, sing-songed as she pushed open his door. She stopped, staring at him with her head cocked as he fought with the button on his jeans before her face lit up with a devious smirk. “Well, look who’s up and decided to put on real pants like a big boy. Got a hot date, Parker?”
“Oh, fuck off, Becks,” Parker grumbled at her lighthearted teasing. “I’m just tired of wearing sweats and shorts all the damn time, okay?”
“Okay, okay, no need to be such a grump about it.” Silence fell between them for a moment, the teasing still a bit awkward even though it was how they had always interacted before he had joined the Army. Maybe one day it would be normal again. “Do you, um, need some help with that?” Becca finally asked, gesturing to where his fingers still fumbled at the button.
Embarrassment flared hot across his skin and his motivation to dress like a functional adult left him in an instant. He was an idiot. He was too broken to do this. Twenty-six years old and he couldn’t even do up his damn pants without help. Not that he would let Becca in on how bad things were. He needed to be the big brother that she remembered.

Next week, I’ll be sharing the first page of chapter two, which is from Ellie’s POV.
