Drawn Together in AO3 Tags

Today I wanted to tell you all a little about my WIP.  I figured since this is my author website and you’re all here because you eventually want to read a book I’ve written, it was about time.  However, instead of a summary or back cover copy like you would expect, I’m going to describe my book using AO3 tags.  This idea was inspired by this thread on Twitter.

For those of you that don’t know, AO3 is one of the most popular fanfiction websites and it has an absurdly extensive tagging system so you can find exactly what you want at all times.  All of the tags I’m using are actual, real AO3 tags. I’ve only changed some to use my character names instead of fandom character names. I also didn’t go into detail with any of the sexual content tags.  If you want to know what kind of smutty nonsense my brain comes up with, you’ll have to read the book. :) But without further ado, the tags:

Nerdy Parker, nerdy Ellie, Matt is a good bro, protective Becca Oswald, ray of sunshine Hannah, Missy is a dick, war veteran Parker Oswald, artist!Parker, cosplayer!Ellie, cosplayer!Missy, bisexual Ellie Simmons, bisexual Logan Chang, asexual Natalia Chavez, pansexual Matt Kaplan, lesbian Becca Oswald, Jewish Matt Kaplan, Star Trek references, Harry Potter references, Captain America references, Doctor Who references, hurt/comfort, emotional hurt/comfort, anxiety, panic attacks, mental health issues, manipulative parents, canon disabled character, falling in love, getting together, sexual content, touch-starved Parker, self-esteem issues, insecurity, past abusive relationship, past emotional abuse, manipulation, biphobia, fluff and angst, domestic fluff, tooth-rotting fluff, angst with a happy ending

For those of you that want an actual description of my book, here’s my one sentence elevator pitch:

Drawn Together is a queer nerdy contemporary romance about Parker Oswald, an injured war vet who takes an art class to rekindle his love of art, and Ellie Simmons, a semi-professional cosplayer with anxiety who models for Parker’s class, as they deal with Parker’s abusive ex and Ellie’s family expectations while falling in love.

If you’re a writer, how would you describe your WIP using AO3 tags?  If you’re not, how would you describe your favourite book with AO3 tags?  What do you think about my choice of AO3 tags?  Let me know in the comments!

Also, starting next week, I’ll be doing weekly character introductions so you can learn more about the people who have been living in my head for the past several years.  First up is our heroine, Ellie!
